Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) more popularly known as her professionally-known surname Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer of Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist signed to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. She dropped her debut EP for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The release date was May 2019. Ari Lennox started posting her music to the internet back in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. The singer continued uploading her music on the internet in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes, at Sweat It out on 21 July 2015. Her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. Her contract was signed officially by Dreamville Records on 8 December. She appeared on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II which featured the track Backseat alongside Cozz. In October 21, 2016, the artist released her debut album called Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she opted to guest feature on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. The music video launched in September. Then, in November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, on November 13 the singer released two new singles entitled The No One and Pdigree. Then she appeared to the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on February 26, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same name. A music video was released on the 20th of February for the track. Within one week, it had over 3,000,000 views. In December 2018 the singer was a part of The From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
